Thoughts on Art for the Day

One thing Picasso might have considered is naming his works something other than exactly what they are about.

"Woman in Blue"

Thanks, Pablo, I got that one on my own since it was, essentially, a photorealistic painting of a woman. In blue.

What do you want from a title of a photo realistic picture other than a way to indicate that it is the particular picture you are referencing?

His feelings on the subject... who it is, who we are meant to think it is, what mystery awaits her soon, something about how he feels when he sees her....

Look at the painting "Woman in Blue with Guitar" (I admit that it's not really photorealistic), and tell me that "Ennui" or "Waiting" or "Celebration" wouldn't be a more intriguing title.

But he's a painter, Matt. He communicates with the image itself.
